Premier wine tourism destination today, the immense territory of the Château de Lastours was already a port of call in the heart of Corbières at the dawn of the first millennium. Garrisons were stationed there, and a fortress guarded the rural roads leading to the Via Domitia. To accommodate travelers, a castrum was then built. Its name, Castle of the Towers, has become over time the Château de Lastours, referring to the watchtowers that overlooked the Domitian way at this particularly dangerous spot. From 12th century to the Revolution, these polyculture lands (woods, livestock, cereals, vineyards) fiefdoms of the viscounts of Narbonne will comprise three major families of owners.

Introduced by Greek merchants as early as the 2nd century B.C., the grapevine truly developed only with the Roman occupation. The conditions were so favorable that the viticulture of the Narbonnaise made shade to «Italian» owners prompting the emperor to limit production. For centuries, the grapevine has been part of DNA of the Château de Lastours, emblematic of the organic vineyards of Languedoc, anchored in the Maritime Corbières territory, major stronghold of the wine world since antiquity. Today, the estate has about 100 hectares of vineyards used primarily for the production of AOP Corbières wines., surrounded by the scrubland of the Corbières. The Château de Lastours is focusing on the development of its vineyard by planting new plots to diversify its grape varieties. Thanks to innovations and the special passion devoted to the vineyard and winemaking, the Languedoc identity of the Château de Lastours reveals itself in fruitiness and finesse. This allows the estate to reveal the full richness of its red, rosé, and white wines from the Languedoc region.

In 2004, a a family of enthusiasts falls in love with this beautiful, neglected land. Organic farming practices, plot-specific selections, energy conservation, agroforestry, wine tourism: the meticulous work carried out by the The Allard Family lives up to this region and its long history. In 2020, a new chapter is beginning for Lastours Castle, with the arrival of Thibaut de Braquilanges, a native of the region with extensive international experience. Together with his entire team, he is dedicated to promoting the wines and activities of the Château de Lastours and in particular its Corbières wines, both in France than abroad.

From the architecture and equipment of our wine cellars to our cultivation methods, everything has been designed to produce exceptional wines, whether it is our white wines, rosé wines ou red wines. Our wines regularly win awards, including several great Corbières wines, in most national and international competitions, reinforcing our belief to always surpass ourselves in order to share the best of our region with our customers. Our Grand Vin Château de Lastours 1986, was honored by the internationally renowned journalist Robert Joseph as Best Wine in the World in 1989. True to its values, the Château de Lastours is proud to be an independent winemaker and estate grower.

Niche in the heart of the Corbières Maritimes, the Château de Lastours is much more than just a committed organic vineyard, it's a biodiversity sanctuary where nature is at the center of everything we do. Respect for biodiversity is at the heart of our approach. We have created watering holes and wetlands to support local wildlife, while planting hedges and groves that serve as ecological corridors. Our unmowed fallow fields and beehives demonstrate our commitment to supporting pollinators and maintaining a balanced ecosystem. Waste management is also a priority for us. We are setting up a rigorous recycling and let's focus on the recycling, while using reusable bottles to reduce our environmental footprint. Finally, we are mindful of our energy consumption. Through proactive leak detection and rigorous monitoring of our water, diesel, and electricity usage, we are working to significantly reduce our environmental impact. We have also reduced the weight of our wine bottles and use recycled cardboard for our shipments. At Château de Lastours, we firmly believe that winemaking can go hand in hand with respect for the environment. Every sip of our wines reflects our commitment to nature and our passion for a sustainable future. Together, let’s cultivate a world where nature and humankind coexist in harmony.

IN THE HEART OF THE LANGUEDOC
Since 2017, we decided to go with the’organic farming, and our Red, rosé, and white wines are certified organic since 2020 vintage. This commitment to sustainable viticultural practices reflects our dedication to preserving the environment while producing exceptional wines. We adopt practices ecological winegrowing that respect and value our terroir. Reasoned irrigation, using rainwater, allows us to manage this precious resource wisely. In winter, we promote natural grass cover, thus avoiding the use of herbicides, and enrich our soil thanks to organic amendments. In addition, we practice soil tillage by alternating rows, which contributes to the good health of our vines while preserving the soil structure. These practices allow the character of our organic red, rosé, and white wines to be fully expressed.
Preserve resources, and to anticipate the challenges of climate change
Agroforestry
& innovation
In 2025, Château de Lastours has launched an innovative pilot project to preserve its resources and anticipate climate challenges. On a dedicated 6-hectare space in the heart of the vineyard, we have redesigned the layout of the vines by combining agroforestry and regenerative hydrology. Our ambition is to take advantage of natural assets of the region, composed of clay-limestone soils and benefiting from maritime influence. In a context of increasing water stress, our estate is implementing concrete solutions to retain water and preserve biodiversity. Among the flagship initiatives of this new research and development zone:
1200 trees to limit the evaporation

Reduction of the plots and keyline
Encourage the retention of water by reducing the size of the plots and optimizing the implementation of the vines in the contour (keyline)
